Harry Henderson papers, 1865-2002 (bulk 1960-2000)

This collection consists of artwork, slides, magazine articles, 115 audio recordings of interviews conducted in conjunction with Romare Bearden and other African American artists, and subject files concerning African-American music selections, medical research, Black psychiatry, drug use by the elderly, hospital interviews, and alcoholism. Henderson's childhood and days in Kittanning, Pennsylvania are documented in negatives and slides, as are later talks. The artwork includes drawings and paintings by a multitude of African-American artists. Written records include magazine pieces written by Henderson, programs for events on African-American artists, notes and planning for "A History of America's Black Artists," a history of African-American historical events, papers for Croton Free Library Association, medical research on prison doctors, obesity, and fitness, correspondence, newspaper articles, Croton Caring Committee papers, papers pertaining to the book "A History of African-American Artists," Penn State materials, and short stories.
